BANDUNG-Facing the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (MEA), approximately 2,500 entrepreneurs in KUMKM in West Java received training about business.
According to the Head of Department of Cooperatives and UMKM West Java province, Anton Gustoni, KUMKM’s entrepreneurs were trained about negotiations, in order to have an expertise to trade with overseas companies.
"We have trained about 2,500 UMKM in West Java, especially in the field of negotiation. Facing the upcoming MEA, they were certainly in contact with companies from other ASEAN countries, so it is necessary to have knowledge of negotiations,” said Anton.
According to Anton, products from West Java small and medium enterprises (UMKM) have good quality. The problem is on marketing their owned products.
"Actually, our UMKM’s product quality is very good and deserve to compete with products from other countries. They just less of confident to market their owned products. That is why we encourage them, so that they become more confident,” he said.
In addition given knowledge of negotiations, the small and medium enterprises (UMKM) were also given knowledge about laws of the ASEAN countries, especially in business law.
