TASIKMALAYA-The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) witnessed the inauguration of the utilization of Wiriadinata Tasikmalaya Air Force Base into a civil or public airport.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between the Air Force, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Tasikmalaya City Government, was immediately witnessed by President Jokowi accompanied by Vice Governor of West Java, Deddy Mizwar, along with Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi at Wiriadinata Air Force Base, Tasikmalaya, West Java, 10/06/2017), before Jokowi's entourage departs to Jakarta.
Wings Air flight destination Bandung became the first civil aviation at the airport at that time.
"The mayor said, 'Mr. President, Airport in Tasikmalaya is already 12 years, we ask that it can be a public airport'," said Jokowi.
Responding to these aspirations, on Friday (09/06/2017), upon his arrival in Tasikmalaya, Jokowi then discussed with the Ministry of Transportation and the Tasikmalaya city government. Then he made the request to be realized immediately.
"I said Mayor May I give 2 weeks, I do not want to month, it turns out that two days is finished, it means that many problems can be solved quickly, but not quickly resolved, or even waiting for orders from the President," said Jokowi.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the airport has an area of 70 hectares of Air Force Base, with a length of 1200 meters. The airport is 6 kilometers from Tasikmalaya city center and 4 kilometers from the local A-type terminal. The airport is just 15 minutes from the city center.
"Currently there is still access to residents settlement on runway 33. But this access will be closed later," he said.
Minister of Transportation said there are a number of facilities that have been available at this airport namely passenger terminal, VIP room, tower building and hangar owned by DPS-T
