Minister Yohana Asks Not to Distribute Child Persecution Video

BANDUNG-The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Republic of Indonesia asks the public not to distribute profiles, photos, videos of children who experience persecution because it will cause psychological impact for the child.

This was said by PPPA Minister Yohana Yembise to respond to the group of people who claimed to have joined one of the community organizations and carried out a persecution action against a child, PMA (15).

PMA is deemed to be an insult to the head of the community organization through its social media account. PMA was questioned in an unfavorable way, making up to sign a stamped statement of action and getting several strokes from the masses.

"If the child commits an offense, you should take the legal process with the parent or guardian's assistance," said Yohana in his official statement in Bandung, Sunday (4/6/2017)

According to him, Law no. 11 Year 2012 on the Criminal Justice System of Children has set the whole process of settlement of lawsuits of children in conflict with the law. Therefore, the role of a parent or guardian is indispensable.

"Give love and assistance so that children do not stay away from family and approach criminal behavior and teach about good and righteous acts, show good behavior and do not violate the law so that children have a good role model," he said

Yohana asks the whole community to ensure the fulfillment of the rights and provide protection to the children. Stop all forms of violence against children because the child is protected by the State.

"Keep children away from all forms of violence, torture, punishment or other unfavorable treatment and may undermine their degrees and dignity." Whoever the perpetrators should be prosecuted legally, "he said.

Yohana also said efforts to prevent violence against children are important. The PPPA Ministry is also developing a community-based child protection approach by raising awareness and understanding of children's rights and protection among children and adults.

"It is hoped that through this Protect Child Protecting Movement will be more and more people who are aware of the importance of family and society in protecting children," he concluded. (MAT)
