BANDUNG - Governor of West Java, H. Ahmad Heryawan said many fatal cases occurred from the lack of blood and no blood pumpkin inventory.
"Lives will be saved if there is someone donated blood to such a person. Therefore, in addition we continue to encourage blood donors to our communities, civil servants, students. So that the district/city must complete the blood donors infrastructure,” said the Governor at the event the release of 106 blood donors volunteer in the West Hall Gedung Sate, Bandung, Thursday (17/12).
The governor said the need for blood in West Java is 2 percent of the total population in West Java Province, it’s approximately 46.3 million or as many as 926.000 blood pumpkins or blood bags. While UTD PMI in West Java can only meet as much as approximately 600,000 blood pumpkin, so we still lack more than 300,000 blood pumpkins.
"Actually, in West Java there are many people who will do a blood donor, but the ability to manage the blood is limited. It was a problem. Therefore, I hope the regents and mayors in each district and city should pay attention to infrastructure of blood donors, because this is indeed a very important humanitarian affairs,” he said.
On the occasion, Governor appreciates as much as 76 of the 106 blood donors volunteer who have ever donated 100 times and more than 100 times to be awarded by Medal of Satya Lencana Kebaktian Sosial by President Joko Widodo, on Friday (18/12) at the State Palace in Bogor.
The governor hoped, next the blood needs can be met as much as 900,000 pumpkins can be fulfilled with evenly distributed, so it is not centralised in Bandung but in all areas.
