BANDUNG-Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) recorded the position of ex imported meat stock per date of May 18, 2017 as much as 70,518 tons even before the holy month of Ramadan and Eid have a surplus of 26,511 tons.
Director General of Animal Husbandry & Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, I Ketut Diarmita said the amount consists of ready-to-cut cattle 116,417 heads or equivalent to 23,167 tons of meat imported beef or 12,025 tons of frozen meat; And imported buffalo meat in Bulog 35,326 tons.
"The national stock of our meat as much as 70,518 tons and even surplus of 26,511 tons," he told reporters on Saturday (19/05/2017)
Diarmita explains, for the prognosis of local cattle means how the contribution of local cattle to stock ahead of Ramadhan and Idul Fitri 2017. He claimed to have coordinated with relevant agencies in the city of Bandung, NTB and NTT that potentially transport cattle to Jabodetabek.
"The number of local cattle prognosis ready to be cut accessible until June 2017 is 366,620 or equivalent to 62,400 tons of meat, so if seen the amount, it is safe to meet the month of Ramadan and Lebaran coming," he said.
According to him, this stock rose 25 percent outside the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
"If normal in the regular month there is no increase in stock, while ahead of Lebaran we increase the stock to 25 percent," he said
Based on these availability, the prognosis of May-June 2017 meat requirement of 106,407 tons can be fulfilled.
Diarmita hopes with the fulfillment of beef requirement ahead, during Ramadan and at the time of Eid al-Fitr can run the worship quietly so as not to interfere with the increase in beef prices.
"With the support from Bareskrim, KPPU and Trade ministry we coordinate for how the ending will be the price of beef does not rise so high that people who run the fast and Eid later in a calm atmosphere," he concluded. (MAT)
