    People with Disabilities Have Equal Rights and Opportunities


    BANDUNG-Currently, people with disabilities are no longer regarded as parties who need to be given compassion, because they have the same rights as other communities. In fact, through various forms of training provided, able to have more expertise than the community at large. This was revealed by the Vice Governor of West Java, Deddy Mizwar, when opening the 28th Mimbar Hiburan Amal Bagi Dhuafa for the Year 2017, at Gedung Sate, Wednesday (17/05/2017).

    "In some sectors of the home industry, they are able to produce a production that is not inferior to normal people in general, like us, it means they can be more productive behind their limitations," he said.

    Deddy also said that in terms of empowering disability, we should be grateful that Indonesia already has a new law on people with disabilities, namely Law No. 8 of 2016 which brings about a paradigm of fulfilling the rights of people with disability, from a charity base approach to an approach Human rights / right base.

    Thus, diving towards them is not only about the social welfare aspect, but includes all aspects that support the expansion of accessibility of services to PwDs, so they have equal rights and opportunities, he added.

    "The government of West Java also has a commitment to keep trying to make disabled people get public services that uphold the values of inclusive, barrier and without discrimination," said Deddy.
