    Wiranto: The Main Purpose of Regional Autonomy is to Realise the Welfare of the People


    SIDOARJO-Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Wiranto said in his speech representing the President of the Republic of Indonesia that the government appreciated the highest performance achievement given to the local government that achieved the award, Wiranto said that the success is a sign of the effective coordination of all development process in the region that affected on the welfare of society.

    "That is why the central government rewards local leaders who have successfully implemented their performance, we congratulate the regions that have received this award," said Wiranto.

    This was stated by Wiranto at the peak of Regional Autonomy Day (Otda) XXI in 2017, which was centered on Sidoarjo City Square on Tuesday (25/04/2017).

    Wiranto added that the welfare of the people who become the main goal of regional autonomy will actually be realised through improving the quality of public services, community empowerment and enhancement of regional competitiveness.

    In the same place, the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Sumarsono, explained the purpose of commemorating Regional Autonomy Day on 25 April as a momentum to evaluate the development performance of regional autonomy in 542 autonomous regions in Indonesia, namely 34 provinces, 415 regencies and 93 cities.

    Sub Directorate of Capacity Development of Regional Government Directorate General of Ministry of Home Affairs, Gensly, assessed that in the middle of budget cutting policy by the central government, West Java is still able to innovate, even transmit his work to other areas.
