Tasikmalaya Earthquake Response Fund was Immediately Submitted

BANDUNG-The Regional Secretary, Iwa Karniwa, ensured that Tasikmalaya Government will submit the proposal for fund after earthquake that happened on Monday (24/4/2017).

Iwa said this was obtained after he with the Regent of Tasikmalaya, Uu Ruzhanul Ulum and Muspida directly reviewed the earthquake affected location in Salawu sub-district, Tasikmalaya.

"Today we are reviewing the worst location, there is one house whose condition is destroyed," he was contacted via phone on Tuesday (25/04/2017).

According to him, the proposal of emergency response fund will soon be done by Tasikmalaya Government to the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan, in the near future. "Now with Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tasikmalaya still calculate the amount of loss and damage, and it will be submitted to Mr. Governor in order to get help from unexpected funds post from Local Government Budget (APBD) of West Java," he explained.

Iwa judged from the results of his visit to the field, in the future the handling will be encouraging residents to build earthquake resistant homes. According to him, the existing stage house (rumah panggung) in Tasikmalaya is quite resistant and strong from the earthquake. "The heavily damaged construction is not reinforced concrete and became easily to be destroyed, unlike the typical Tasikmalaya stage house," he said.

According to him, "It was agreed by the Regent who will start to discipline the building proposal to follow earthquake resistant building standards such as building a stage house or construction materials accordingly, "he said.

BPBD of West Java, Iwa said currently they continued to monitor the affected areas for 3x24 hours with BPBD of Regency/City that felt the impact of the Earthquake. "There are 8 sub-districts affected, 34 families and 90 people, 6 families and 17 people are still displaced," he said.

The 5.4-magnitude earthquake shook Tasikmalaya yesterday where its vibration was felt up to Garut and Bandung. (Pun)
