    Indonesia Literacy Infrastructures Beats Europe


    BANDUNG-Based on studies from World Most Literate Nation that was held by Central Connecticut State University in 2016, Indonesia had high ratings than other countries in Europe in terms of an infrastructure assessment that supported reading activity. Although according to data, Indonesia was on 60th ratings from 61 countries in reading interest.

    "It means that there should be initiators from a library in order to encourage reading interest among citizens," Yasmin Kartikasari as the Coordinator of Children Book Day Festival (FHBA) 2017 said to reporters in Bandung, Thursday (4/20/17).

    Yasmin explained that the festival would be held on Sunday, April 23th 2017 at Taman Cinta in Bandung Institute of Technology.

    "This event is at the same time with World Book Days ITB that has purpose to create public awareness about reading interest and how important it is," she explained.

    According to her, FHBA will be the first festival which is chidlren and parents friendly that is held in Bandung. The festival will also provide play activities for children (book based activities), seminar for parents, book review, talkshow with literacy activist, and various workshop related with books.

    "We also prepare communities library area and literacy communities so that visitors can freely have discussion and spread love about book," she concluded.
