JAKARTA-West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) received the 192nd prestigious award during his leadership in Regional Marketing Award 2015 from the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and renowned marketing firm, Markplus, in Jakarta, Thursday (11/12) night.
Gold Champion award category was awarded by Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo to Aher and witnessing by Chairman of DPD Irman Gusman, Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya, a marketing expert and founder of Markplus Hermawan Kartajaya, and approximately 5,000 audience marketing grand annual event titled Wonderful WOW Night.
Aher said he was grateful for these award because it shows recognition of West Java potential in Indonesia, especially to investors.
"We are grateful for this award, as a review of West Java capability and good at marketing potential. West Java can market its potential to investors, we are also able to keep condusivity in business economics to attract investment," he said.
West Java was recorded as the centre of national manufacturing, contributing nearly 60% of the manufacturing industry performance. In terms of the business economic performance, the rate of economic growth (LPE) of West Java until the third quarter of 2015 reach 5.1% or better than national LPE 4.73%.
Aher continue it will continue to boost performance, especially in tourism, so that the next could obtain the best marketing categories overnight tourism sector gained Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
"In the future we will pursue it because of West Java have a potential in tourism, such as Pangandaran, Pelabuhan Ratu, and Pamengpeuk with the longest white sand in Indonesia, and also Green Canyon, Geopark Ciletuh which still in developing, and hundreds of other tourist destinations,” he added.
West Java also plans to market the potential of community-based tourism such as for backpacker, off-road travel, adventure travel, and much more.
DPD and Markplus own previously determine the seven provinces as the nominee namely South Sumatra, West Java, Riau, NTB, Jakarta and Central Java. In addition, 15 counties and 10 cities entered as a nominee such as Bandung, Pasuruan, Banyuwangi, Semarang and Tangerang City.
This award is also supported by Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Trade, Investment Coordinating Board, Central Bureau of Statistics, and Indonesia Marketing Association.
DPD chairman Irman Gusman said the awards selection process carried out since last November. It gives an award intended as a token of appreciation to the region that recorded economic performance and good marketing.
According to Irman, the award is given to areas that have at least three categories. First, a strong economic performance in 2015, have an initiative in the field of tourism, trade and investment impact on improving economic performance. And last, having other initiatives, such as an agreement with the workers, which makes an attractive area as investment destination.
Dudi Sudradjat Abdurachim, Head of Communications and Information Boards West Java Province, which became coordinator of assessment and presentation of West Java province to DPD, revealing assessment stems from filling the questionnaire which containing inter alia common West Java data in terms of economic, demographic, social, up to the provincial government initiatives to improve the investment and tourism.
Furthermore, said Dudi, the organisers invited for presentation in the House of Representatives in early December. The panelists came from BKPM, Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Industry.
"The judges were convinced by the presentation of provincial government. Alhamdulilah, we are in Gold Champion in Regional Marketingg Award 2015. We wish it spur us all, especially in West Java province in order to build up West Java," he concluded.
