BANDUNG - The Central Government has requested the Government of West Java Province to focus on resolving a number of problems in the field concerning the readiness of Lebaran in 2017.
Regional Secretary of West Java, Iwa Karniwa said the request was one of the points discussed during the coordination meeting regarding the technical preparations for Lebaran transportation in 2017. The meeting was led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime, Luhut Panjaitan and Transportation Minister, Budi Karya in Jakarta, Monday (4/3).
"One conclusion of the meeting was that the Coordinating Minister asked all parties to strengthen coordination and performance to reduce the level of congestion and accidents and to improve public services," he explained.
According to Iwa, West Java as the centre and destination of homecoming route, along with the Provincial Police Commands of West Java and other related parties, has identified and solved a number of problems in the field with regard to homecoming tradition.
"First, for the track of Pantura (the North Coast Road), we handle 14 points of 'pasar tumpah' (spilled markets) as well as accelerate the improvement of infrastructure," he said.
Furthermore, regarding the southern path, the meeting wants the related parties to continue to reduce the congestion in Rancaekek, Nagreg Limbangan, Kadungora, Leles and Ciawi.
"A number of road damage cases in some pathways were also included in our report," he said.
The conditions of congestion and improvement of infrastructure for the centre lane such as Ciawi, Puncak, and Cipanas were also asked to be completed. (Pun)
