CIREBON REGENCY - Vice Governor of West Java acted as the Inspector of Ceremony on the 67th anniversary of the Municipal Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the 55th anniversary of the Public Security Unit (Linmas) 2017. Based on the guidance from the Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, the Municipal Police is encouraged to improve their involvement in the Regional Intelligence Community, so that information can be responded quickly and appropriately.
"Based on the message from the Minister of Home Affairs, there are at least two things: the attitude of 'being served' should be changed into 'to serve', the second is that there is one more duty mandated, what if Satpol PP becomes a member of regional intelligence community, considering their daily activity is related to the society," said Deddy Mizwar during the anniversary ceremony of Pol PP & Linmas in the Level of West Java Province, in Ranggajati Field, Cirebon, on Wednesday (03/22/17).
In addition, in accordance with the theme of this year's anniversary "Enhancing the Role of Municipal Police Unit and Public Security Unit in Maintaining the Pluralism among Society in the Region", it is also expected the Pol PP and Linmas to be present in the midst of society as a link.
"Pluralism, actually, is not something uncommon in the life of Indonesian people. But as time passes by, we entered the era of globalization, transparency, and reform which is as if challenging our sovereignty," he said.
As for the other guidance from the Minister of Home Affairs delivered by the Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar, it included the encouragement for the Municipal Police to be always proud of, and to tightly hold the honour of Municipal Police as a form of devotion to the nation.
Furthermore, the Municipal Police are also required to provide fast and appropriate services towards any threats, obstacles, and challenges which are related to the Public Tranquillity and Peace occurring among communities.
The Municipal Police in carrying out their duties, according to Deddy, should firstly open a dialogue prior to the whole society with regard to actions and policies to be taken to hold the regulations of the applicable laws.
"Then, the Municipal Police should always be sensitive to all forms of social changes taking place in the society. They should be able to make preventive actions to avoid a greater impact," he continued.
In addition, Deddy added that the Municipal Police should also improve their discipline and dedication to their duties, and improve networking both with colleague members of municipal police as well as other elements such as the Police and the National Army in supporting the duties and functions in the field.
