SUMEDANG– Food producers in West Java held a Technical Meeting of Food Enterprise Development Community (PUPM) by Toko Tani Indonesia (TTI). Vice Governor of West Java, Deddy Mizwar opened the meeting attended by farmers at Hotel Puri Equator, on Jatinangor street Km 20, Jatinangor, Sumedang regency on Sunday night (19/3).

Fluctuations in food prices that impact on inflation, as well as the chain of food distribution are the main issues discussed in this meeting. Although inflation of West Java is still normal (2.75% in 2016) and the program of Toko Tani Indonesia (TTI) has been established since last year, the condition of food prices in Indonesia and West Java in particular still flare up.

To overcome these problems, the vice governor, Deddy Mizwar considered this meeting very important and strategic. Stability of food supply and distribution chain is a determinant of food prices. Therefore, through this technical meeting, the solutions ranging from upstream to downstream issues of food and farmers in the field can be discussed.

"There are three main commodities: rice, onion, and peppers. How all of them must be maintained. First, we have to overcome inflation. And second, do not let the distribution chain is harmed. Farmers must also be benefited, and then also in the downstream, especially consumers and merchants are not harmed. This means that price stability should be maintained, "Said Deddy.

According to Deddy, information on food distribution to the hands of consumers needs to be enriched. This will be important particularly as the anticipation of inflation and to ensure the stable price of food.

"The information will be very important. The information of planting period, harvest period, where, and how the farmers can distribute their products and when they distribute them, so the stability of food price is regulated and calculated properly, "said Deddy.
