PT KAI Prepares 'Flying Gank' Team, Anticipating Railway Disruptions

BANDUNG– PT KAI Operational Area (Daop) 2 Bandung has prepared a rapid response team 'Flying Gank' to maintain the reliability of train travel. The team will conduct a routine check on the railways to anticipate natural disturbances.

Public Relation Manager of PT KAI Operational Area 2 Bandung, Joni Martinus explained that the disturbances which frequently occur are landslide and subsiding land on the railway area. Such an incident happened on last Monday while the train railway at kilometre of 110 between Ciganea and Sukatani Stations subsided.

"The subsiding railway lines were only 5 centimetres, but we're going to fix it as soon as possible in order not to get worse," Joni said.

He assured that the land subsidence did not affect the schedule of train departures, even though the trains had to move slowly while passing by the subsiding spot. The train speed would be lowered to maximum of 20 km/hour.

Joni further explained that to anticipate the risky area and rainy season, PT KAI Operational Area 2 Bandung has prepared Flying Gank to be on alert in some locations. Flying Gank are responsible to quickly respond and fix the problems occurring on the railway.

Regarding the dangerous areas in Operational Area 2, there have been prepared some standby posts such as at the kilometre of 110 between Ciganea Station - Sukatani Station and the kilometre of 99 between Purwakarta Station - Cibungur Station. There are always operators provided in the posts to monitor and to manage the area for 24 hours. jo
