SUMEDANG-YMN (Yayasan Masjid Nusantara) was back renovating a mosque in Sumedang precisely in Bakom village, Cisitu sub-district. Masjid Al-Mubarok was still earthen floored, the ceiling has not been installed, the door frame is prone to damage, as well as the lack of toilets and drains for ablution.
Since 2015, the local residents began to raise funds to repair the mosque. However, the funds collected are not sufficient to fund the renovation. If the condition of the mosque is not renovated, the mosque's walls might be filled with moss and easier to collapse.
"Although the mosque is poor, the spirit of the people in the mosque is high. The children are still enthusiastic to learn Koran at the mosque. Hopefully, through this renovation assistance, This will increase the spirit of the locals to look after their mosque," said Director of YMN, Hamzah Fatdri, on Thursday (9/3).
Previously, YMN also renovated Masjid Nurul Iman in Cipunderan - Sukajaya Village, South Sumedang district, in Sumedang regency. Hamzah said that YMN will consistently continue improving its services and expand the area of the mosque renovation assistance.
Currently, YMN is building new mosques in Aceh and Palu. Since it was established in 2012, YMN has built and renovated 45 mosques scattered in various areas in Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara
