    Let's Use Free Transportation by the Provincial Government of West Java to Mudik!


    BANDUNG - The provincial government of West Java via Transportation Agency (Dishub) of West Java Province is opening registraion for general citizens who have Resident Identity Cards (KTP) of West Java to follow the program of free Eid Mudik Transportation period of 2017 - 1438 H. The registration has opened since Febuary 14th 2017 for the departure on June 17th 2017. According to Wikipedia, mudik is is an Indonesian term for the activity where migrants or migrant workers return to their hometown or village during major holidays.

    The Chief of Transportation Agency of West Java Province Dedi Taufik said that the annual program was held to provide safe and comfortable public transportation for mudik. "There are two types transportation that is provided by West Java Provincial Government which are busses and trucks for motorcycle," he said at his office, Thursday (3/2/2017).

    Dedi mentioned that there were several routes, they were Bandung-Solo (via Kebumen-Yogyakarta), Bandung-Semarang (via Cirebon), Bekasi-Solo (via Semarang & via Ciamis), Sukabumi-Solo (via Cirebon-Semarang). "The public transportation's quotas for Bandung is 22 busses, for Bekasi is 30 busses, and for Sukabumi is 8 busses which have capacity of 44 seats," he said.

    "Our parties don't give any deadlin. We will wait until each quota has been fulfilled, then we will close the registration. For that reason, we urge citizens who want to use this facility to sign themselves up as soon as possible," he said.

    The requirements that candidates of free mudik must have is copy of their Resident Identity Cards (KTP), copy of family card and birth certificate (for those who bring their toddlers), and copy of vehicle registration (for those who bring motorcycles).

    The places of registration are in three location which are in the office of Transportation Agency of West Java Province at Sukabumi Street Number 1 in Bandung, in office of Transportation Agency in Bekasi City at Jend. A. Yani Street Number 1 (Bekasi Regional Government's office), and in Transportation Agency of Sukabumi City at Arief Rahman Hakim Street Number 21 in Sukabumi city.

    Dedi said that the program of Free Mudik by the Provincial Government of West Java was expected to reduce the traffic jams that was caused by citizens who used motorcycles. "It is the way to reduce the number of accidents that are caused by motorcycles. So that, citizens can arrive in their hometowns safe and sound," he explained.
