BANDUNG - The Director of Information in the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Wawan H. Purwanto said that misleading news that had not proven to be true yet or hoaxs were spread rapidly in societies.
"As from our observation, hoaxs are spread rapidly in societies that have effect for citizens," he said.
According to Wawan, hoaxs could spread rapidly in societies because some of citizens were considered not having criticized mind towards certain information that they had got.
"We have to keep calm to any opinion and information, even to news that we have got," Wawan said in his seminar on "Building a mindset of anti-hoaxs in College Students" that was held in New Auditorium Building of UNIKOM, Bandung, Monday (2/27).
Wawan said that misleading news sometimes were connected with some people's ideologies that would lead them to have certain conflicts.
"We as the good citizens should be more aware when getting or receiving new information, if they have not been proven to be true yet," he said.
