JAKARTA – Once again, West Java Provincial Government won an award. This time the award was achieved by the field of Land Transport for the Province Category: Wahana Tata Nugraha Wiratama from the Ministry of Transportation Republic of Indonesia.
Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar receives the trophy which was directly handed over by the Vice President of Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, formally accompanied by the Minister of Transportation of Republic of Indonesia Budi Karya Sumadi and also by the Head of Transportation Department of West Java Dedi Taufik, at Vice President Palace Jakarta, on Tuesday (01/31/2017).
The trophy of Wahana Tata Nugraha is an award from the Central Government to the Provincial Government that has a commitment to build, develop, and improve its performance in the area of transportation.
In addition, there are other 10 Provinces that accepted the Trophy of Wahana Tata Nugraha Wiratama 2016. They are West Sumatera, South Sumatera, Riau, South Kalimanta, Central Java, The Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, East Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi.
In his speech in the event of the award handover, the Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that a transportation system can be measured through two aspects which are the traffic smoothness and safety.
JK, the nickname of the Vice President, said that the smoothness of transportation can be seen through the speed average on the main road. Meanwhile, regarding the safety, during 2016, JK said that the Police Force recorded that there were more or less 100.000 transportation accidents, with the deceased victims were more than 23.000 on the main road.
"It means that there are still many things we need to improve from the transportation aspect. Of course, it is not simple because there are at least eight factors which affect the good and bad system of transportation," said the Vice President.
Additionally, the Vice President explained that there is a number of factors which is influential in the matter of transportation: the increasing number of population, the increasing number of vehicle, and the regional factor or economic territory which means that an area which has a strong economy will become attractive for people and cause a density of population.
Therefore, the supporting transportation infrastructures need to be oberved more. Besides, the management of public transportation and traffic, and the socialization about people's discipline also need to be followed up.
The Vice President did not forget to show his appreciation to the awardees.
"I would like to congratulate the Governors, Regents, and Mayors on winning the award of Wahana Tata Nugraha Wiratama. It means that they have worked very hard to improve and to upgrade the transportation system in their own regional area," said the Vice President.
For the award, Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar said that becomes a motivation as well as a trigger to keep improving and making the transportation services for the public better.
“The award has been achieved is not only ceremonial, the excellent transportation services is also important. It is because the transportation means a facilitator which support the development of economy, society, and also democracy," said the Vice Governor.
