The Economic Growth Rate of West Java is above national GDP, JK: That'd be a Shame if West Java does not Progress

BANDUNG-Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar presented the economic performance of West Java in the Leadership Meeting (Rapimprov) III West Java Kadin, held at Aryaduta, Sumatra street, Bandung, Tuesday (24/1).

Deddy said that the Economic Growth Rate (LPE) has progressed above the national GDP which is only 5.02%. "the Economic Growth Rate (LPE) of West Java in the third quarter of 2016 to the third quarter of 2015 grew by 5.76% (yoy). It is an increase compared to the same period in 2015 that was 5.02%," said Deddy Mizwar.

As a response to the economic performance of West Java presented by the Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar, Vice President Jusuf Kalla responded by saying that it'd be a shame if West Java does not progress with so many potentials they has.

Vice President who is familiarly called JK mentioned that West Java has capital progress that includes Human Resources (HR), with a large numbers of populations, Natural Resources (SDA), which are abundant and potential, good educational facilities, as well as the infrastructure that JK observed are relatively good compared to other provinces in Indonesia.

JK also observed that the economy of West Java is considered relatively good if we look at the numbers of exports which are quite high about from 18% of total numbers of national exports. However, the Vice President said that the economy cannot be measured only by per capita income. This is due to some disparity. So JK very much encourages industry, or any form of business initiated by the locals.

"In the past, there were a lot of Sundanese people who owned industrial business, and hotels. But today lots of them become industrial workers, this is a big problem," he said.

Therefore, the Vice President JK emphasized the importance of encouraging young entrepreneurs and local businessmen to rise, and the government also needs to continue to support the movement. "The bottom line is to support the spirit of local entrepreneurs to try," said JK.

Meanwhile, with regard to the meeting, the General Chairman of West Java Kadim, Suryamal Sutisno said that the present Rapimprov meeting is the third meeting since the period of the current management. The theme of this meeting is, "Keeping Sustainability of Real Sectors in National Economy", with the sub-theme "Strengthening SMES and cooperatives as to Support Manufacturing Industries and Agro in West Java."

"This Rapimprov meeting is an intended agenda of our ADART, with all business components, we will evaluate economic activities. We will also improve cooperation with the Government and Academia, in order to improve the quality of business skills, particularly in SMEs," he said.

Agung added that this agenda was held in order to absorb as well as to get information about all problems that occur in business and economy in national scale, particularly in West Java.

“Since vice president is present here, hopefully we can come up with solutions to the barriers," said Suryamal.
