    The presence of Jokowi Became the Main Attraction


    BOGOR CITY-The presence of President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, at Bogor OPen Archery Championship 2017 became the main attraction for the participants in the competition. One of them is gold-medalist in Junior High School Women 20 Meters Category, Vrysilha Augustrid from Indonesia Archery Association (Perpani) Sumedang Regency. The 14-year-old athlete was glad could take pictures with Jokowi who is also a participant in National Executive Round that was held at Education Centre of Engineers (Pusdikzi), Bogor City, Sunday (22/1/2017).

    "I'm glad the President could attend and I could take pictures with him and other athletes," she said in joy.

    Vyrsilha said, in qualification round yesterday, Saturday (21/1/2017), she scored 351 points and became the winner in Junior High School Women 20 M, defeated 66 other participants. She with other 15 qualified participants, entered the eight-finals to join elimination round. In elimination round, if the participants get lower score will be disqualified. From the elimination round, Vyrsilha succeeded and scored 30 points and defeated her opponent from West Bandung.

    "Alhamdulillah I could win and get the gold medal as my target. In the future, I'm going to join Regional and National Sport Weeks selection," she said after became the gold-medalist.

    However, senior archery athlete, Djati Saptowibowo (52), said that Bogor Open Archery Championship 2017 was very good because it could be a benchmark for the archery athletes' ability and bring together experienced archery athletes. Moreover, the presence of Joko Widodo as participant could be a first step in developing archery. Djati also hoped that Bogor Open Archery Championship at national level could be held every year.

    "Archery is not just a sport, but also fro archery people can learn discipline, focus, balance between the righ and left side of brain," he said.
