BANDUNG - International broadcasting forum or International Conference "Media For World Harmony" and The 5th Annual Meeting of IBRAF was officially opened on Wednesday (02/22/2017) by the Minister of Communications and Informatics, Rudiantara, at the Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung.

During the IBRAF or International Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum attended by the broadcasting regulators from 36 member states of OIC and 10 monitor states, it was evaluated the problems of media convergence and broadcasting technology, and also discussed the concept and implementation of the change of world media technology.

On that occasion, Governor of West Java Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) was elected to give welcoming speech in the forum which was also attended by Vice Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Coordinator Minister of Maritime Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.

During his speech, Aher expected the international broadcasting forum to be able to produce a decision which can lead the broadcasting media to be better.

"I do agree if this meeting results in a commitment to create better broadcasting media," said Aher.

Aher also talked about the hoax phenomenon which happens frequently nowadays. He said that it's important to make regulations which specifically controls information mostly from social media. The regulations will regulate the explicit constraints, rules, and legal punishment for the hoaxers.

"The mainstream media have had their own monitors like the Press Council and KPI (Indonesian Broadcasting Commission). However, the social media which are accessible for everyone, need regulations so that no one can freely bring about provocation and bullying because there is no explicit legal punishment," he said.

The regulations, Aher continued, will be able to prevent bad news and will only invite the citizens to get good news.

"There are millions of words shared by media. Imagine, if those millions of negative words are consumed by the citizens of the world. If we all agree that media will share only positive words, then good characters will be built among the citizens of the world," he explained.

In this forum, Aher along with the Mayor of Bandung and the Delegations signed the declaration "Media for World Harmony from Bandung to the World".
