    Rice Price in West Java Dropped in December-January

    BANDUNG – Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) of West Java watched rice prices at Mills in January 2017 conducted in 15 districts of West Java which are spread across 35 sub-districts with a total of observations as many as 74 transactions. It was reported then that the price of rice has decreased.

    In January 2017, the average price of rice at Mills was Rp 9.473,72 per kilogram or a decline as much as 0.90% compared to the price of rice in December 2016 that was recorded about Rp 9.389,68.

    Based on the quality of grouped rice by fracture (broken) rice, Premium Rice increased 0.31% from Rp 9756.61 to Rp 9786.83, and Medium Rice increased 1.86% from Rp 9171.25 to Rp 9341.89, while the Low quality of rice decreased 1.36% from Rp 8950.00 to Rp 8828.57. The changes of the prices showed a fluctuating pattern. From January 2016 to January 2017, the decline mostly occurred in five months, which are March, April, August, November, and December 2016 with the lowest price that was Rp 9236.00 per kilogram occurred in April 2016.

    Meanwhile, the price of grain has relatively increased. In January 2017, the average price of wet paddy (GKP) at farmers markets in West Java reached Rp 4432.33 per kilogram, or increased as much as 0.83% compared to December 2016 GKP price that was Rp 4396.02, dry un-husked rice (GKG) at farmers market increased 0.66% from Rp 4926.09 to Rp 4958.82 per kilogram, while the Low Quality Grain decreased 1.16% from Rp 3796.37 to Rp 3752.32 per kilogram.

    Based on the observation, the lowest price of GKP at farmers markets that was Rp 3750.00 per kilogram occurred in Cianjur (observation 1) at a price at Mills around Rp 3850.00, due to the freight charges from the transaction location or GKP to nearest Huller that costs IDR 100 per kilogram. The highest transaction price of GKP at farmers markets was Rp 5800 found in Bandung regency (4 observations) with a price at Mills Rp 5850.

    As for GKG transactions in West Java in January 2017, the price of the transaction at Mills on average was Rp 5076.47 per kilogram, that was the lowest price of CKG that was Rp 4650 per kilogram found in Sumedang (6 observations) and the highest price at Milling of CKG was Rp 6200 per kilogram found in Indramayu. jo
