BANDUNG Bandung Mayor, Ridwan Kamil gave appreciation to women who are now starting to be able to demonstrate capability to engage in the country's development.
According to the Mayor, the number of women and children in Indonesia now reaches 80 percent of the total population of Indonesia, where both of them are a potential resource in the development.
"The spirit of gender equality increasingly echoed to achieve the target of which the composition of women and men to 50:50 in 2030," said Mayor in the celebration of Mother's Day in Bandung City Level at Plaza Bandung City Hall on Tuesday (27/12).
In his speech, the mayor also mentioned the achievement of Indonesia that has become the only country that has the largest number of female ministers, which amounted to 9 ministers.
"It shows that women have equal rights and the same ability to be at higher levels of development," said the mayor, when reading the Speech of the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
However, according to the Mayor, it does not mean for the sake of achievement of targets women should be selected without looking at the quality and ability.
"I hope that other women can also contribute to demonstrate its ability to be elected by the system to participate in improving the nation's progress," he said. (Parno)
