BANDUNG-Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar launchs the "Leaders Reading Challenge Literacy Movement" before hundreds of students for primary / junior high school and vocational school attendance of District / City of West Java, on Monday (19/12), located in Building Pusdai Bandung.
Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar in his speech argued that the problems of education is not only in education facilities and infrastructure, such as school buildings, library books and education expenses, but there are fundamental problems that occur are "low basic literacy, namely the low interest in reading among students even college level students.
According to Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar, that based on research results of ISA world agency on literacy, that our country is in the range to 64 of 72 countries studied. Likewise, according to research of UNESCO in 2015, the Indonesian occupation from 1000 people, only one person who has good interest in reading, continued Vice Governor.
Then Vice Governor argues, that of the 85.1 million inhabitants of Indonesia who have access to the internet, with 40% access "game" material, while accessing material of technology, knowledge, education and others only around 2% only.
On this basis, Vice Governor invites all parties to do cultivation literacy movement, especially in schools and for that West Java Provincial Government has sought to form a community literacy at school, each community between 20 and 40 people in grade 4 to grade 12. These activities are outside of school hours. Each community is guided by 2 to 8 counselor.
School literacy movement is a movement of habituation, development and learning. In the habituation phase, each student accustomed to read for 15 minutes, then at this stage of development, each student must review and discussion, said Vice Governor.
Literacy Movement in school is also an expression of our conviction in order to defend the state, said Vice Governor.
At the launching event of Leaders Reading Challenge Literacy Movement presented Mother of West Java Literacy, Netty Prasetiyani, representatives of Ministry of Education, all officials of West Java Department of Education and students who come from regional representatives.
