    Iwa Karniwa Opens Tahura Juanda Festival


    BANDUNG-Secretary of West Java Province, Iwa Karniwa, represent of governor, officially opened the Tahura Festival 2015, Sunday (22/11), at Hutan Raya Juanda park (TAHURA) Dago Atas Bandung.

    Tahura Festival themed "Black and White" of inherited forest for the future. The opening was marked by releasing birds to the Tahura forest habitat by Secretary Iwa Karniwa, Hj. Netty Prasetiyani Heryawan, and Head of Forestry boards West Java Province Budi Susatijo. Dozens of birds released into the forest habitats, including Kepondang bird species, Jalak Munding, Bultok bird, and Haur bird.

    Iwa Karniwa in his speech appreciated the positive management of Hutan Raya Juanda Park (Tahura) so that quite large in resulting the local revenue (PAD). Nevertheless, Iwa hoped that the Tahura function as a nature conservation area don’t get ignored because of pursuing the revenue targets. He also hoped that Tahura Festival can be a momentum to improve forest conservation throughout the region and especially for Tahura Regions.

    While Netty Heryawan Prasetiyani more highlights in the management aspect of Hutan Raya Juanda in which more demand by people of various groups. According to Netty, the operators should to continue invite the visitors to preserve this forest, not only as a visitor.

    In order that Tahura more desirable by public, it is necessary to do special research to visitors, such as what kinds of activities that need to be held in Tahura. For example centre tracking, centra outbound, centra shooting or just enjoying the nature. It’s all able to obtained by research from the visitors opinion.

    After the main event, the Festival Tahura continued by the appearance of the children singing a song themed invitation to love the forest and also  forest conservation.

    While according to Budi Susatijo in his report, this festival has been held since several days with activities including: drawing competition for children, marathon, race photography and various discussions about forest conservation and development of birds.
