    Foreign Minister: Asean Must be Beneficial For People



    BANDUNG-Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) through the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation as well as the West Java provincial government held a "Healthy Asean Families Walk" in commemoration of the 49th anniversary of Asean and the 71st Anniversary of West Java Province. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, along with West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher), opened the event in Gedung Sate, Jl. Diponegoro No. 22, Bandung, on Sunday (28/8).

    Healthy walk was also held on the occasion of Independence Day and the 71st anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) RI-71. Minister Retno Marsudi revealed that Asean is part of the Indonesian people. To that end, Retno said the main goal of the event is to get closer to the people of Indonesia.

    "ASEAN is an organization of people center. So the existence of ASEAN should benefit the people of Asean, for the people of Indonesia," said Retno in the event.

    Participating in the event is the wife of the Governor of West Java, Netty Prasetiyani Heryawan, Director General of Cooperation Asean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, and the other officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Laos to ASEAN, Lasem Cemani, Vice fixed Indonesia to ASEAN, Rahmat Pramono, Director General of European Americans Asean, Muhammad Ansori, Deputy Chairman of the parliament of West Java, Haris Yuliana, as well as relevant officials in the West Java province.

    Governor Ahmad Heryawan was highly welcomed and appreciated on a main event this healthy way. According to him, almost every week healthy walk event held in West Java, especially in Bandung this.

    As cities and provinces that are frequented by many people, both from within and outside the country, on this occasion Aher also urge all citizens of West Java to be a good host and friendly to every tourist who comes, according to the motto of West Java, Gemah Ripah repeh Neat.     "Thank God, in the last two years the number of foreign tourist visits to West Java continue to rise, the increase is significant especially to Bandung Raya," said Aher.

    Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) is an organization of countries in Southeast Asia who was born on August 8, 1967. Up to now there are 10 countries that are members of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. While Timor Leste is currently a candidate for the next Asean member countries.

    The event was attended by 5,000 participants from the city of Bandung and many other areas in West Java. After a healthy walk participants were also entertained with a variety of dances from the 10 ASEAN countries plus Timor Leste and the appearance of some local singers. In addition, participants also had the opportunity to get gifts or door prizes, such as Umra, motorcycles, sport bikes, as well as various other prizes.
