    Jabar Rice Production Down 2.33% in 2015 Compared to 2014

    BANDUNG - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that in West Java the rice production in 2015 reached 11,373,144 tons. Compared to 2014, rice production in 2015 decreased by 271 755 tonnes of paddy, down 2.33 percent.

    The decline is due to a decrease in rice production of 2.07 percent, and the decline of upland rice production of 7.62 per cent. In terms of area harvested, a decline in rice production in 2015 due to a decrease in harvested area of ??6.17 percent compared to 2014. The harvested area of ??rice in 2015 reached 1,857,612 hectares, down by 122 187 hectares compared to 2014 which reached 1,979,799 hectares. The decline in harvested area of ??paddy and rice fields respectively 5.73 percent and 12.76 percent.

    "Based on the 4 month period (subround), compared to the same period in 2014, the harvested area in the period January-April 2015 increased an area of ??25 146 hectares, or up 3.26 percent from 771 966 hectares to 797 112 hectares," said the head of BPS Jabar Bachdi Ruswana.

    Area harvested in the period May-August 2015 decreased area of ??28 898 hectares, down by 4.13 percent from 699 778 hectares to 670 880 hectares. While in the period September-December decreased harvested area measuring 118 435, down 23.31 percent from 508 055 hectares to 389 620 hectares.

    Based on the Fixed figures in 2015, rice production increased by 4.08 percent compared to the year 2014. The productivity of paddy rice increased by 3.89 percent compared to 2014 of 59.76 ku / ha to 62.09 ku / ha, while the productivity of rice fields increased by 5.89 percent from 44.77 ku / ha to 47.41 ku / ha.
