BANDUNG-Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Willem Rampangilei encourages researchers, practitioners and community care disaster to conduct a disaster-related research.
"Research can improve the quality of Disaster Management in Indonesia that the results can be distributed to internaional community," he said.
According to Willem, BNPB has made various efforts in the response to the disaster, one of them by doing research that involves many parties.
"The challenge today is related to the planning, implementation and documentation of research results that have not been well coordinated," said Willem, the opening of the Annual Scientific Meeting open to the PIT-3, at the ITB West Hall, Monday (23/05).
Willem said the perpetrators researchers or experts, the potential of knowledge resources Indonesia, which until now has not embodied in a good coordination so that the distribution information of researchers with expertise is still difficult to reach by other researchers.
"A lot of human resources-related disaster understand that is difficult to reach by other researchers, including by the perpetrators of disaster management, including disaster management policy makers in Indonesia," he said.
Willem also hope, in this 3rd PIT can generate recommendations, particularly in the context of disaster risk reduction (DRR) are useful in disaster management in Indonesia. (Parno)
