BANDUNG - The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, invited academics to educate the public to be good at sorting information / news.

"Now we no longer have to seek information, but sort out information," said Governor Ridwan Kamil, in his remarks at the 64th Anniversary of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar), on Jalan Ciumbuleuit No.94 Bandung, Thursday (1/17/19 )

The governor who was familiarly called by Emil's call told me that at this time hoax, or false news had been circulating so badly in the community. There are also many losses caused by hoaks.

If the hoax news is widespread, there will be anxiety. Moreover this hoax news is related to events that have an impact on human life.

For example, many hoax news circulated recently related to landslides in the Pamempeuk area, Garut, West Java. Apparently, Emil said, the news was hoax, and was very detrimental to the economy.

In fact, the landslide incident occurred on Junhong Road in Da'anshan Township, Fangshan District, Beijin, China. That fact was revealed by the Jabar Clean Sweep (Saber) Hoaks team.

The video depicting landslides, apparently has been uploaded on 10 August 2018 by the official account of daily newspapers in the People's Republic of China, People's Daily China.

"Many hotels, restaurants, which have been booked, are ready to welcome guests, become lonely, poor. Not to mention those who send and deliver goods, sell, people lose just because of hoaxes," he said.

Also Jabar Saber Hoaks, which is under the auspices of the West Java Provincial Office of Communication and Information (Diskominfo), is tasked with verifying all forms of information that disturbs the public, especially in the digital domain.

"The task of this team is to ensure West Java is free from unsettling hoaxes," said Governor Emil.

"This team will also be a verification verifier / doubtful information. It's better to be late to spread the news a little, but it's true," he said.

Jabar Saber Hoaks was also formed to improve digital literacy and the critical attitude of the public to the existence of false news. Routinely every week, the Jaber Saber Hoaks Team will announce various hoax news circulating in the community.

Emil also mentioned, the emergence of hoaks made the community unproductive. Because, people's time is wasted just to check the truth of the news they receive.
