    BANDUNG-The year 2018 can be said to be a disaster year, although the number of disasters is relatively the same as the previous year, but the difference between the impact of disasters during this year is extraordinary.

    The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted, during 2018, until Thursday (25/10), there were around 1,999 disaster events in Indonesia and this number will continue to grow until the end of 2018. The impact of the disaster recorded 3,548 people died and disappeared, 13,112 people were injured, 3.06 million people were displaced and affected by the disaster, 339,969 houses were severely damaged, 7,810 houses were moderately damaged, 20,608 houses were slightly damaged, and thousands of public facilities were damaged.

    According to BNPB Head of Information and Public Relations Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the economic losses caused by the disaster were quite large, such as the earthquakes in Lombok and Sumbawa caused damage and losses of Rp. 17,13 trillion, earthquakes and tsunamis in Central Sulawesi caused more losses and damage. from Rp. 18.48 trillion and this number is expected to increase.

    "Compared to previous years, the number of dead and lost due to disasters in 2018 was the largest since 2007. The number of disasters, probably almost the same as the number of disasters in 2016 and 2017, namely 2,306 disasters and 2,391 disaster events," he said .

    Sutopo said, during 2007 to 2018, major disasters that caused many casualties were in 2009, 2010 and 2018, in 2009 there were 1,245 disasters such as earthquakes in West Java and earthquakes in West Sumatra.

    "The impact of the disaster during 2009 was 1,767 people died and disappeared, 5,160 people were injured and 5.53 million people were displaced and affected by the disaster," he said. (Parno)
